The certifications for Flowers by the Sea

Flowers by the Sea

is Certified as a Biodynamic producer by the Demeter Association USA. This approval requires the highest level of purity in our production methods. We use no pesticides or concentrated chemical fertilizers of any kind, relying on a balanced, harmonious and healthful environment on the farm to sustain healthy plant and animal growth.

In addition we are NOP Certified as organic producers.

You will find on our web site a wide variety of herbaceous perennials, native plants, salvias, cool growing orchids, old fashioned house plants, grasses, sedges, rushes, restios, bulbs and assorted delights, grown without harmful the use of ANY harmful chemicals. In addition, we offer organic fertilizers, innoculants and soil amendments - all carefully selected to make your home and garden safer and more beautiful.

Flowers by the Sea is a family farm, worked by a small team of people. We are gardeners and farmers, and believe that you will appreciate the health and vitality of our plants. We have been working for several years to be able to open this website, where you can find out about and purchase the plants that we lavish so very much attention on.

In addition to growing nursery plants, the farm furnishes a wide array of vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs and other fresh products into our local community.

We're proud to be suppliers of fresh, local, clean and organic food and plants!

All of us at Flowers by the Sea are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the web of life that surrounds us, by carefully managing the crops, animals and soils of this place. We believe that the quality of the attention a plant or animal receives during its life has a direct effect on the quality of the end product. So our herbs have a more robust flavor than those grown en-mass and processed by machine, our jams have a sweeter, more full-bodied taste than the mass-produced varieties and our flowers have more intense color and aroma than those grown overseas in sweatshops and held for months in cold storage. This is the beauty and magic of the old-fashioned small farm. On our Web site you will see pictures of our crops and animals and information about our methods. It may be for you a glimpse into another world!

The earth and the cosmos work toward the growth of plants

We strive to work with the land, the life all around us and the cosmic forces that shape our world.  Frogs eat insects in our production fields and greenhouses. Hummingbirds graze on the nectar of the flowers.  We keep honeybees - as pollinators, for their marvelous honey and to help the dwindling population of bees worldwide.  Our goats eat the weeds and brush, and provide fertility for the crops.  The farm exists as a balanced, living organism in which everything plays a part.  By caring for the land with love, respect and intent, we believe we are making a difference.

We hope you enjoy your virtual time with us, and we really do appreciate your support!  Please feel free to contact us anytime.
