I was very impressed with the careful packing when I opened the box with my blue anise sage! 4 out of the 6 plants already had beautifukl flowers! One stem had completely broken off at the base. I emailed fbts and got a prompt reply that it would be replaced. I will order from them in the future!

Acanthus mollis 'Hollard's Gold'
(Golden Bear's Breeches) This gem, one of our best new plants for 2010, has striking, bold golden yellow-green leaves with outstanding large white and purple flower spikes.
This plant is tolerant of most soils, thriving in deep, fertile, moist, and well-drained conditions.  We grow our stock for a full year before sale, ensuring a root system that will ensure fast establishment and growth.

Use this large leafed plant as a backdrop for finer leaf textures, such as Geranium x cantabrigiense 'Biokovo' or Dan-Shen.

Note for Zone 9 and above gardeners:  This plant grows best in the fall, winter and spring and slows to a semi-dormant state in the heat of the summer.  Blooming here at our farm is almost year-round.
