Category:News Posted: Jan 14, 2015 06:38 PM Synopsis: Sometimes small changes help online plant nurseries to stay upbeat and, as the Bee Gees sang, to "keep staying alive." Flowers by the Sea, a specialty online Salvia nursery, has made a small increase in its minimum order fee from $10 to $20 to stay profitable and keep providing a wide variety of popular and rare Salvias and companion plants.
Category:News Posted: Aug 16, 2013 12:59 PM Synopsis: Flowers by the Sea now offers a powerful, do-it-yourself, product-filtering tool that makes plant selection easier and faster. It sets up a matrix of choices to help customers sort possible selections for their gardens based on USDA cold hardiness zones, sun exposure, mature height and spread of plants, soil type and water needs. This article explains how the tool works and provides examples of how to use it.

Used to live in CA and when I moved to NJ I missed the availability of Salvias. Found your website, searched by zone as I live in zone 6 and found the best asst of Salvias. Believe me when I say that as we order seeds from all over the world. And to our amazement the quality of the plants surpassed the selection! Always top quality plants.

I purchased an order of 30 salvias, milkweeds and agastache from FBTS. The plants were packaged well and arrived large and healthy, with the exception of two plants whose branches had snapped during shipping. The plants that were not damaged in shipping were surprisingly large, with the largest being about a foot tall and eight inches wide, and had healthy roots and leaves.

We ordered 15 plants. All arrived in excellent condition. If our local nurseries offered these plants, which they don't, 14 of the 15 would have already been in 2-gallon or larger containers and priced considerably higher. These are by far the best-grown, healthiest, and largest Salvias we've ever received in a shipment, from anyone.

Never have gotten a delivery so quickly of mail-order plants and what's more, the plants were superior in quality to anything I've seen before. We have great nurseries in Berkeley and nearby but I must say, these were spectacular!
Amistad is THE perfect salvia--just a wonderful size, and it blooms like crazy, even here in Iowa! Now, if only my ruby-throated hummies would find it. Buying them later in the season, they didn't get the prime pieces of real estate, but I'm sure the little hummingbirds will love it as much as the others--especially once the babies come around for their piece of the pie!
I ordered 4 salvia this year. All arrived GREEN and VIBRANT--no wilt and no breakage. By far the best plant packing I have seen...but most importantly, all the plants went into the ground and took perfectly.I love the selection! Please keep scouring the world for new salvias. Also love the blog!Scott
I have now had gardens in four locations (Boston, Oregon, Palm Springs, and Mountain Center, CA) with plants from Flowers by the Sea. I LOVE Salvias, and there is no one I'd rather buy them from.Plants are shipped well, and in a timely fashion, always surprisingly large and always well-rooted, healthy specimens. The owners are knowledgeable and helpful, in fact, extraordinarily so. FBTS i...

The plants are so beautiful: large, healthy and just ready to grow and bloom. These are among the best salvias I have ever received. The selection of plants is fantastic too. My first order, but it certainly won't be the last!

I love Flowers by the Sea ! I always get quality products and service from you . The Salvias I’ve purchased are thriving and the milkweed is already starting to spread. I hope to have a full milkweed forest next summer to aid the Monarchs on their journey . I am glad I happened upon you .
