Category:News Posted: Jan 14, 2015 03:38 PM Synopsis: Sometimes small changes help online plant nurseries to stay upbeat and, as the Bee Gees sang, to "keep staying alive." Flowers by the Sea, a specialty online Salvia nursery, has made a small increase in its minimum order fee from $10 to $20 to stay profitable and keep providing a wide variety of popular and rare Salvias and companion plants.
Category:News Posted: Aug 16, 2013 09:59 AM Synopsis: Flowers by the Sea now offers a powerful, do-it-yourself, product-filtering tool that makes plant selection easier and faster. It sets up a matrix of choices to help customers sort possible selections for their gardens based on USDA cold hardiness zones, sun exposure, mature height and spread of plants, soil type and water needs. This article explains how the tool works and provides examples of how to use it.

Mine was a 4" potted plant that I purchased in northern California 3 years ago. I moved it with me to hot, dry Ramona, California and planted it in my no water garden. It is now 3' tall and 8' wide. I pruned it last spring and it's a beautiful, fu...
FBTS is a valuable gem I discovered and could not be more pleased. My first delivery was not in good shape at all due to being out of town when delivered and they were packaged too long. However, the owner made the effort to satisfy his customer by replacing the plants and sending me a bonus plant. Now in this day and age it is rare to find a company willing to go the extra mile but they sure ...

I must say my order of Scarlet Spires salvia arrived as the most beautiful plants I have ever purchased to receive through the mail. Absolutely awesome quality!

My third shipment of flowers arrived today with temperatures reaching 100 this afternoon. Kermit said they would be safe to ship despite the weather and they arrived in perfect condition. Many were blooming or in bud and all were very healthy and full. When I receive flowers from Flowers by the Sea, I know that I will be receiving the very best. Thank you for growing fantastic salvias.

Thank you for the plants that arrived today. They look great.
I received my first order (of salvias) three days ago - they came to North Texas via regular mail and look great. They are large, no leaf drop, and are already over the 'not so perky' phase that comes with being shipped; several have open blooms already. I appreciate the very reasonable prices which help offset the cost of postage. Great selection - I have already made a second order. (Can't...

My sages arrived today. I was so excited when I opened the box to discover that all were moist and vibrant after three days on the road. One of the Salvia lyciodes x greggii 'Ultra Violet' plants was even blooming! Also, how thoughtful of you to wrap them in newsprint! There were no materials to throw away; the newsprint is now in my compost heap.
I love Flowers by the Sea ! I always get quality products and service from you . The Salvias I’ve purchased are thriving and the milkweed is already starting to spread. I hope to have a full milkweed forest next summer to aid the Monarchs on their journey . I am glad I happened upon you .

I always await my Flowers by the Sea order like a child awaiting Christmas! Even though I know the plants I ordered and I know every plant will be perfect, it is exciting just to open the box and experience the love and care that goes into every shipment. Then to await the show in my garden! My only regret is that I am running out of space . . .

the salvias I ordered were the most robust and healthy looking plants I have ever seen. I especially liked the hardening off and planting guidelines and tips. unfortunately work called me away for a week and the plants weathered a week of brutal Georgia heat, humidity and drought unattended. when I finally got them planted they still looked incredible and are doing nicely. I highly recommend fl...
Amistad is THE perfect salvia--just a wonderful size, and it blooms like crazy, even here in Iowa! Now, if only my ruby-throated hummies would find it. Buying them later in the season, they didn't get the prime pieces of real estate, but I'm sure the little hummingbirds will love it as much as the others--especially once the babies come around for their piece of the pie!
