Hakonechloa macra 'All Gold'
Hakonechloa macra 'All Gold'
(Gold Japanese forest grass) One of the best ornamental shade plants around. Gleaming, metallic gold leaves are spiky and more upright than other varieties. This slow-spreading perennial grass provides dramatic textural contrasts with other shade-loving plants. Its arching form with the leaves tending to flow in the same direction makes it reminiscent of a cascading, glittering waterfall. Even though it is a creeper, it's never invasive, spreading by underground rhizomes.
