Many gardeners think of Gingers as strictly tropical plants, and are delighted to find that there are a few very hardy and showy species from the high mountains of Asia. These are herbaceous perennials, and most are late to emerge in the spring. The reward comes not only from the fine foliege, but from the often quite large and showy flowers that display over a long period.
