(Silver Dollar Hebe) This compact, tidy and colorful sub-shrub would earn a place in many gardens just because of its foliage. But when the bright purple flower spikes begin to show, it catapults into a category of its own.

This plant forms a tight mound two feet tall and two feet across.  The leaves, densely arranged on the stems, are about 1/2 inch long, giving it a soft appearance. Use it in a container for a dramatic accent.
