Gardeners in years past called these "tropicals". Patio Plants are generally grown in containers, generally outside in the summer. Most are spectacular, and add a special touch to a deck, entryway or patio.
If you are in a warmer Zone, or can overwinter these plants under cover, they can become permanent additions to your gardens.
