Perennial Hardy Geraniums are sometimes referred to as cranesbill geraniums, because their seed pods do somewhat resemble a crane's bill. Geranium comes from the Greek word for crane, geranos. They are generally low growing plants. The foliage is often toothed and remains attractive even when touched by frost. The flowers appear to float on top of the plant, in shades of white, pink, magenta, purples and blues.
