Testimonials
I just received another order of Beautiful
Salvias from Flowers By The Sea. The plants are large and healthy in perfect condition.

I really can not say enough positive things about Kermit and Vikki!
You will not find better salvias or better service anywhere.

I have ordered a number of thimes since I found their site earlier this year. The plants and the service have been the best I have ever received and I have a huge yard and order a lot of plants online.. I can't wait until next year when they have all settled in and are blooming. I haven't allowed them to bloom yet though they have tried.

If you are looking for beautiful gorgeous salvias you are at the right place. I give FBTS my very highest recommendation.

i had never ordered plants online before, so i was very skeptical about the condition the plant would be in. When i received it, i was amazed...absolutely amazed! As promised, the plant was robustly healthy, carefully packaged (easily survived a very clumsy fedex guy dropping it right in front of me), and arrived within 2 days. Overall, excellent service and quality, this plant is simply gorgeous. I am definately referring to this company for any of my online plant purchases.

Salvia canariensis

Salvia canariensis

(Canary Island Sage) In areas with mild winters, this spectacular, aromatic Salvia may reach 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Its numerous, cloud-like spikes of purple-violet flowers contrast nicely with large, furry leaves.

This is ideal as the centerpiece of a Mediterranean-style garden and can be a tall screening shrub In Zones 9 and 10, with foliage lasting year round. In colder areas, such as Zone 7a, it is a perennial growing up to 4 feet tall. Following frost, it dies back to the ground, then usually returns from its rootstock in spring. Canary Island Sage looks exotic in or out of bloom and is worthwhile even as a large annual for full-sun locations.  On our Mendocino Coast farm, it blooms from June until January.

Phygelius x 'Sensation' Phygelius x 'Sensation'

(Sensation Cape Fuschia) Another great plant from South Africa's Cape region. Glossy green leaves are the perfect background for the enormous clusters of long tubular flowers that are creamy fuchsia pink with delightfully contrasting dark red and bright yellow throats. Hummingbirds adore these! Tropical looking but hardy to Zone 8, once you see one in bloom you'll want it for your garden.

Salvia albicaulis Salvia albicaulis

(White Stem Sage) This rewarding, easy-to-grow sage comes from rocky, exposed slopes in South Africa and is called White Stem Sage because of its felted white stems. The big, green, slightly leathery foliage is dense and attractive by itself. You'll definitely fall for this full-sun Salvia when its large, rich blue flowers with two white bee lines bloom.

Salvia broussonetii Salvia broussonetii

(Stiff Canary Island Sage) The large, light green, furry leaves of this water-wise Salvia are beautiful. The plant's lush foliage and stiff, somewhat stocky stems contrast nicely with its branched spikes of small, delicate-looking, white flowers.

Salvia fruticosa Salvia fruticosa

(Greek Sage) Most of the dried culinary sage sold in the United States is Greek Sage. Frescoes on the island of Crete dated to 1400 BC depict this plant, which was used by the Phoenicians and Greeks for cooking and medicine. It is an ancient and beloved friend of mankind.

Salvia muirii Salvia muirii

(Wildesalie) Dominant white beelines mark the violet-blue flowers of this heat- and drought-tolerant sage from South Africa. Dramatic burgundy bracts surround the flowers, which contrast handsomely with dense, fine leaved, olive green foliage of Salvia muirii.

Salvia namaensis Salvia namaensis

(Nambian Sage) One of the most unusual Salvias we grow, with a loose feathery look from it's deeply cut “lyrate pinnatifid” leaves. Small light blue flowers are distributed over the small shrub almost year round. This is an ideal plant for hot areas, and requires little water to survive.  And it has a most pleasant fragrance, reminiscent of some of the California native Sages.

 Our price: $7.50

#674
Salvia pennellii Salvia pennellii

(Tamaulipas Sage) This tall growing, shrubby Sage from northeast Mexico has everything going for it: deep purple flowers, attractive textured leaves and strong dark stems. Shrubby down to the mid 20s, it grows as a herbaceous perennial into the low teens.

 Our price: $7.00

#789
Salvia pomifera Salvia pomifera

(Fruit Sage) Taking its common name from the small round galls that develop from the activity of a small fly native to the dry slopes of Crete, this drought loving Sage is as tough as they come. The spectacular 1 inch powder blue flowers with deep rosy bracts cover the plant in the Summer, nicely accented by the highly fragrant grey-green leaves.

#638
Salvia radula Salvia radula

(Scrappy African Sage) A fragrant and highly desirable sage for sunny areas. Not well known in the nursery trade, it is a lovely and reasonably hardy plant that should be used more often than it is.

From the plant-rich mountains of South Africa, growing at elevations of up to 6,200 feet, Scrappy African Sage is a herbaceous perennial, closely related to Salvia disermas, which it resembles. The flowers are sturdy and the leaves smell wonderfully.

#744
Salvia somalensis Salvia somalensis

(Somalian Mountain Sage) From high elevation forests in Somalia comes this truly unique Sage. Very large powder blue flowers are profuse and long lasting, making it a focal point in any garden. But the foliage is nothing short of spectacular - furry textured 4 inch leaves curl back gracefully, giving this plant a most graceful appearance.

Salvia tingitana Salvia tingitana

(Mauretania Tingitana Sage) A plant with a history. This rare Sage was first described in 1777, and was known for decades before this date.
