I received my salvia order today. The plants look great and I can't wait to see them bloom. Loved your selection of rare salvias. Thank you.
Helena Hartje

I received my plants in a very timely fashion and they were in unbelievably good condition. I have never ordered plants online that were better packed. I following the directions supplied and my plants are now in containers and looking great. I live in an apartment and have very limited space on my deck..........but do intend to order a few more plants. Anyone wondering whether to order plants from this firm...............don't hesitate but place your order ASAP.

Salvia dolichantha

Salvia dolichantha

(Purple Szechuan Sage or chang hua shu di cao) Rich violet flowers seem to hover in the air above this hardy, shade-loving, herbaceous perennial from the mountains of Szechuan, China. They bloom from late summer through fall on branched spikes rising up to 5 feet long from clumping foliage.

The foliage spreads rapidly and features leaves that are large, lush, bright green and shaped like elongated hearts. Salvia hians is similar to Purple Szechuan Sage, but is smaller, has blue flowers and can't tolerate the winter chill of Zone 5 as this plant can.

Although it can take full sun, Purple Szechuan Sage prefers partial shade. It makes a fine ground cover or border plant and can grow up to 3 feet wide. It prefers regular watering, but does well in dry gardens as well as in woodland-style gardens. Add its blooms to your cut-flower arrangements.
