I love you guys--the S. macrophylla started blooming flowers a few days after it arrived and so are the canariensis and radula that I ordered earlier in the month. They are absolutely gorgeous and I have no doubt they will thrive once planted in the ground. Thank you thank you!

I also wrote a yelp review to help get your site out there :-)

This is my second year ordering from this fine nursery. The plants are large and healthy, and the choices are spectacular! They were very well packed and shipping was very quick.

Salvia fallax
(Silly Mexican Sage) Also known as Salvia roscida, this close relative of Blue Sky Mexican Sage (Salvia caudata 'El Cielo Blue') has literally thousands of medium size, deep violet-blue flowers with two prominent and large bee lines. The flower-to-leaf ratio of this plant is high, covering the plant when in full bloom.

Use this tall, columnar plant as a background for larger flowered species. When we have visitors, they will go far off the path to see this unusual plant. Another Salvia that will do well in full shade.

Highly recommended.

Salvia amarissima Salvia amarissima

(Bitter Mexican Sage) A most unusual, large lipped baby blue flower with white striations, this sage is one of the best choices for shady, moist corners. Used in its native Mexico as a medicinal herb for a variety of ailments. We love its grace and beauty in the garden!

Salvia caudata 'El Cielo Blue' Salvia caudata 'El Cielo Blue'

(Blue Sky Mexican Sage) The small, deep amethyst purple and white flowers of this plant from Neuevo Leon & Tamaulipas, Mexico are quite attractive. But the leaves! Large and light of texture, they are bluish green above and purplish green underneath. A densely branched shrubby plant, this Sage is excellent in containers where it's beauty can be appreciated close up.

Salvia concolor Salvia concolor

(Blue Black Mexican Sage) This spectacular and hardy central Mexican native is exciting to watch as it sprouts from it's root stock in Spring, shooting up to 8 to 10 feet in ideal conditions. Large, vibrant purplish blue flowers are profuse late Summer through Fall on inflorescence that can reach 20 inches. Calyxes are similar in color to the bloom hence it's name which means “of the same color”.

 Our price: $6.00

Salvia dorisiana Salvia dorisiana

(Fruit Scented Sage)  This plant has it all. Big, soft, fuzzy, light green leaves , large magenta-pink blooms and an almost intoxicating scent. One of the most strongly (and deliciously) scented plants we have come across to date.

Salvia myriantha Salvia myriantha

(Mexican Many Flowered Sage) This cloud forest Mexican native has so many flowers they are difficult to count, starting in the early Winter and going well into the Spring. The color is a deep violet, with two very large bee lines that develop after the flower opens. The foliage is sticky and aromatic, making this a good background shrub in the landscape.

 Our price: $7.50
Amount:

#656
Salvia urica Salvia urica

(Blue Bush Sage) From the jungle mountains of Chiapas, Mexico to Honduras, this beautiful blue flowered Salvia loves shade and moisture. The furry leaves are extremely attractive, but coupled with the soft hued flowers it makes a dramatic statement, especially in a container.

 Our price: $6.50

#692
Salvia x westerae Salvia x westerae

(Hybrid Bolivian Sage) A natural hybrid between two Andean species, S. orbignaei and S. haenkei, this Bolivian native is nicer than either of its parents and deserving of a place in the garden. The large, dark pink flowers are profuse and long blooming. An ideal container plant!

The Blue Species

When I think of Winter blooming Salvias, the warm colors – red, orange and pink – come to mind first. Possibly because THE most spectacular Sage of all, Salvia gesneriifolia 'Tequila', is a presence to contend with, growing for us over 16 feet tall and 30 feet across! But looking around our gardens this cool day, there are a number of very fine blue and purple Sages in bloom now. So in Part 2 of the Winter Salvia series, we’ll discuss these fine plants.
