South American |
Most of the Salvia species and varieties in the general nursery trade are from Mexico or the United States. Many fine hardy types, mostly herbaceous perennials, are native to Europe and Asia. Some of the oddest Sage species come from Africa. But the South American Salvias are durable and unique, most deserving of garden space and attention.
We offer what we consider to be the best of these here.
