This highly adaptable, exceedingly long blooming herbaceous perennial begins to show color in early Summer and continues until frost renders it inactive. There are a number of varieties of this dependable and long cultivated species, with the above named cultivar being our current favorite due to it’s stunning large and profuse deep purple blooms and it’s lush, vibrant mint green foliage.
The upright habit and long inflorescence (8“-12”) of this beauty make it an obvious choice for the back of the boarder. Plants should be pruned nearly to the ground in late Winter to maintain a tidy, shapely appearance and to encourage vigorous new growth in the Spring.
