FBTS uses a formula based on the main -- or primary -- color of a plant's flowers to identify similar plants. The foundation of our analysis is the internationally standardized color system published by the U.K.'s Royal Horticultural Society.
Each RHS color has a common name and a code combining a number and a letter from A to D. Immediate family of a color share the same number, but not necessarily the same common name. For example RHS#44A is Vivid Red, whereas RHS#44B and #44C are both commonly called Vivid Reddish Orange and #44D is Strong Yellowish Pink. Moving up one closely related color set, you find Vivid Reddish Orange RHS#43A and #43B, Deep Yellowish Pink RHS #43C and Strong Yellowish Pink RHS #43D. Moving down one closely related family, you arrive at RHS#45A to C, all of which are called Vivid Red and then RHS #45D, which is Strong Red.
Extended family can be so confusing! Don't worry about keeping the RHS common names and codes straight. Just be aware that all the plants in this gallery are part of one big happy color family.
When I received my order the plant had snapped in half during shipping, I contacted them and told them about it and they promptly sent me a replacement that arrived in awesome condition! The plants were both very healthy and green despite the first one being broken. The quality of the plants was...
Everything arrived in perfect condition. We followed the instructions of allowing the plant to accumulate to the local climate in Texas. We planted them two days after we got them. The plants are doing very well with drip irrigation to the base of all 4. Now we wait for the flowers.
This is the third year I have ordered plants from FBTS. All plants have arrived healthy with most blooming plants in bud or bloom. Plants are packed with great care and after a couple days to recover from shipment are ready to be planted. I've gardened for over 50 years and FBTS is without any...
I just got my first order in from Flowers by the Sea. I was absolutely delighted with my flowers. They were in great shape, larger than I expected and transitioned into my garden nicely. I will be a repeat customer! Thank you!
Wow, what great plants and even better customer service. I ordered 4 plants and two of them died although I treated them all the same..might have been something stupid I did. I called and I got two new plants in less than two days! And they gave me information on how to keep the plants alive and...
Service was excellent. Plants arrived as stated and in excellent condition. Now I just need patience as I enjoy watching them grow.
Every year I order from Flowers by the Sea. Every year I am amazed at and thrilled by the plants that arrive. I have never had one fail and I've been ordering for quite a number of years. It's not easy to find great hummingbird plants in Michigan. FBTS fills a huge void for me. If ever I have a...
I placed my order of 6 Salvia Buchananii with Flowers by the Sea in February 2017 for arrival in early to mid March. During the first weeks of March we here in Coastal South Carolina were warned of hard freeze potential. Flowers by the Sea contacted me via telephone to discuss the shipping of...

I love Flowers by the Sea ! I always get quality products and service from you . The Salvias I’ve purchased are thriving and the milkweed is already starting to spread. I hope to have a full milkweed forest next summer to aid the Monarchs on their journey . I am glad I happened upon you .
