FBTS uses a formula based on the main -- or primary -- color of a plant's flowers to identify similar plants. The foundation of our analysis is the internationally standardized color system published by the U.K.'s Royal Horticultural Society.
Each RHS color has a common name and a code combining a number and a letter from A to D. Immediate family of a color share the same number, but not necessarily the same common name. For example RHS#44A is Vivid Red, whereas RHS#44B and #44C are both commonly called Vivid Reddish Orange and #44D is Strong Yellowish Pink. Moving up one closely related color set, you find Vivid Reddish Orange RHS#43A and #43B, Deep Yellowish Pink RHS #43C and Strong Yellowish Pink RHS #43D. Moving down one closely related family, you arrive at RHS#45A to C, all of which are called Vivid Red and then RHS #45D, which is Strong Red.
Extended family can be so confusing! Don't worry about keeping the RHS common names and codes straight. Just be aware that all the plants in this gallery are part of one big happy color family.
Superb packing and beautiful plants! So glad I bought from FBTS!
Lovely salvia plants, two out of three of them extra lush, and very well packaged!
I'm just getting in to growing salvias. I ordered 3 each of salvia glechomifolia (ground ivy sage) and salvia microphylla (\"Hot Lips\") from FBTS. All plants arrived happy and thriving, and have already settled in with new growth and flowers in my Portland garden. Thank you Vikki and Kermit!
We were very happy with the plants we ordered. We followed yoyr instructions and the plants are doing well
I have purchased plants from on line nurseries from all over the world for many years and I have to say the Salvia and Agastache I received from Flowers by the Sea are of the highest quality of any nursery I have ever dealt with. Great packing and extremely well rooted plants. I highly recommend...
From one salvia lover to another.... I always am so amazed at the quality and condition of plants I order from you. In spite of the distance (CA-SC) the plants always are in wonderful condition. All 12 of the recent order were well rooted and ready for planting. Thank you for your quality...
I have now had gardens in four locations (Boston, Oregon, Palm Springs, and Mountain Center, CA) with plants from Flowers by the Sea. I LOVE Salvias, and there is no one I'd rather buy them from.Plants are shipped well, and in a timely fashion, always surprisingly large and always...
Pure Joy!!! I've enjoyed watching this burgundy salvia develop across the summer-- continuously getting taller and bushier. Now that August has arrived, there are dozens of blooms springing forth from the plant, which has spread nearly 4 feet and is 3 feet tall. Day by day the exact colors are...
I received my order at the time I was told I would get them. They were good after 7 days in shipping, a little dry but they have be growing just fine. I can't wait to see them bloom.
I have been ordering plants from Flowers by The Sea for three years. I have received over 200 plants in that period, and they have always been healthy, clean, great looking plants. I usually get my plants on Tuesday and each Tuesday it feels like Christmas. Opening the carefully packed box and...
