Salvia lanceolata

(Rusty Sage) One of our personal favorites because of it’s enchanting flower color (dusty rose), it’s nearly care-free culture and well-behaved, compact growth habit, this evergreen , woody sub-shrub is a must have for any garden with full sun and sharply draining soil that is low in organic matter.

You might want to do an occasional, light pruning to shape the plant but it is not necessary. Weekly, deep watering during the summer is most desirable but it will survive with much less when well established. This handsome little bush is found from sea level up to 1,000ft. in the coastal areas of the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa.

This plant is used as a culinary herb by the locals, especially tasty with fish.
