I received 2 shipments in 2010, total of 8 plants, all salvias. I received large plants per capita and they were growing in an interesting well-drained mix. It contained what looked like tiny bits of clay pots in place of perlite. I highly recommend this nursery based on 2010 experience and future 2011 same.

I just received another order of Beautiful
Salvias from Flowers By The Sea. The plants are large and healthy in perfect condition.

I really can not say enough positive things about Kermit and Vikki!
You will not find better salvias or better service anywhere.

I have ordered a number of thimes since I found their site earlier this year. The plants and the service have been the best I have ever received and I have a huge yard and order a lot of plants online.. I can't wait until next year when they have all settled in and are blooming. I haven't allowed them to bloom yet though they have tried.

If you are looking for beautiful gorgeous salvias you are at the right place. I give FBTS my very highest recommendation.

Salvia miltiorrhiza
(Red Sage, Chinese Sage, Dan-shen) Salvia miltiorrhiza is a powerful and important herb in traditional Chinese herbal medicine. The remarkable blue flowers seem to glow in the shade. We are happy to be able to offer this plant on a very limited basis.

For information on how this herb is used, check out the listing at Wikipedia

This hardy, long lived perennial herb has bright red, finger like roots that will stain your hands.  It grows for us well in semi-shaded situations, with good moisture and regular feeding.  This is a woodland plant, not a Salvia from the arid regions of Mexico or Africa!  It has fragrant, hummingbird magnet lavender flowers in the summer, and looks good in mixed borders with Hostas and other woodland plants.
