Hi! I ordered outdoor orchids from you last year. Just wanted to say how great they are doing. Mounted the orchids on the trunk of my tree ferns and about half of the kikis are blooming. Evey-thing you sent is still alive. I have never been able to keep orchids alive indoors but they really like hanging outside on trees.

I ordered 4 salvia this year. All arrived GREEN and VIBRANT--no wilt and no breakage. By far the best plant packing I have seen...but most importantly, all the plants went into the ground and took perfectly.

I love the selection! Please keep scouring the world for new salvias.

Also love the blog!

Salvia regla 'Royal'
(Orange Mountain Sage) Another truly fine Salvia from Coahuila, Mexico. The foliage is tidy and the plant compact, with soft, large orange flowers that come for us any time of the year. The absolutely unique characteristic of this clone is the bright orange bracts that turn heads of even veteran Salvia enthusiasts.

Such a soft pastel orange is an unusual color, which goes well with dark leafed Heuchera.  It is quite heat tolerant, and although it appreciates water can do well in low water gardens. This is a real winner for us, impossible to keep in stock when in bloom.

Salvia corrugata Salvia corrugata

(Corrugated Sage) Dense, purplish blue whorled inflorescence nicely complement this handsome plant‘s somewhat linear, deeply textured, dark green leaves with cottony undersides.

This evergreen shrub grows quickly and easily to 4‘-6’, needing only full sun, well drained soil and regular water to stay in nearly continuous bloom and looking it’s best.  With occasional pruning of the growing tips, or, growing it in a decorative pot, it can also be held to a 2’-3’ shrub.

We especially enjoy contrasting this plant’s rounded, dense growth habit with our taller, airier Sages, like Salvia guaranitica 'Purple Majesty'.

 Our price: $7.00

#625
Salvia holwayi Salvia holwayi

(Winter Mexican Sage) We haven't been so excited about any plant in a long time. This sage blooms through 20 degree weather with snow and ice, has a graceful habit with lovely small dark green leaves and even spreads gently. Oh, and the flowers - the tubular one inch cinnabar red flowers puff out in the center, and are profusely presented in large clusters.

 Our price: $6.50

#646
Salvia involucrata var puberula 'Hidalgo' Salvia involucrata var puberula 'Hidalgo'

(Hidalgo Roseleaf Sage) The earliest flowering, hardiest and strongest growing cultivar of this species. It starts its outstanding floral display in June here on the Northern California coast, and continues - more and more spectacular every day - until cut down to the ground by a 20 degree frost. Some years it actually never stops blooming!

This Salvia requires a bit of high shade in the hottest climates, and appreciates a rich soil with regular watering.

 Our price: $7.00
Amount:

#632
Salvia karwinskii x involucrata v. puberula Salvia karwinskii x involucrata v. puberula

(Gray Roseleaf Sage) A hybrid between Karwinskii's Sage (S. karwinskii) and a variety of Roseleaf Sage (S. involucrata v. puberula) collected in Mexico by Rich Dufresne, this plant combines the strong points of both parents.

 Our price: $7.00

#736
Salvia rubescens Salvia rubescens

(Venezuelan Red Sage) A spectacular plant, with gorgeous foliage and deep orange-red flowers on long spikes, this plant has been in cultivation for decades but is still quite rare in gardens. We'd like to see that change.

 Our price: $7.50
Amount:

#595
Salvia spathacea 'Avis Keedy' Salvia spathacea 'Avis Keedy'

(Yellow Hummingbird Sage or Yellow Pitcher Sage) Highly desirable and spectacular in all ways, this California native Sage is a rare yellow variety introduced by the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.

 Our price: $7.50
Amount:

#651
Salvia x 'Cabrillo Sunset' Salvia x 'Cabrillo Sunset'

(Cabrillo Sunset Sage) This hybrid of Salvia macellaria and D'Arcy's Sage (Salvia darcyi) is a Summer through Fall bloomer selected by Kathe Navarez in 1999. It has very large coral red flowers in spectacular abundance, much to the delight of gardeners and hummingbirds alike. From Cabrillo College in Aptos, California, its "sunset" colors are most attractive and the plant is strong and grows well.

 Our price: $6.00
Amount:

#348
Salvia x 'Scarlet Spires' Salvia x 'Scarlet Spires'

(Scarlet Spires Sage) A hybrid between the very hardy D'Arcy's Sage (Salvia darcyi) and the beautifully colored 'Raspberry Delight' Littleleaf Sage (Salvia microphylla 'Raspberry Delight'), this plant is superior to either of its parents in every way.

 Our price: $6.60
