WOW!!! I just received another shipment of plants froom FBTS. These plants are Beautiful. Perfect condition big healthy salvias!

I can't say enough positive things about Kermit and Vikki. By far the best place to buy salvias from. I wouldn't think of buying elsewhere without seeing if they have the plant I am looking for first.

I honestly cannot recommend them more highly. Don't hesitate to place an order here, you will not find better people to deal with anywhere.

Salvia tubiflora
(Tubular Chilean Sage) This rare sage from the coastal mountains of northern Chile grows in an environment of foggy days and moderate temperatures. In the wild it can grow 9 feet tall and 4 feet wide, but we have never seen one that large here in California.

This is a handsome perennial that builds up a bit of shrubby wood.   The deeply veined leaves are a bright green, up to four inches long, and highly attractive.  Flowers are small, cranberry red with nice reddish bracts.  Not spectacularly showy, it still commands attention in any garden.

Ours begins blooming in late September, and will continue until the onset of inclement weather.  A fine container plant, it will bloom all winter if kept from freezing.

Highly recommended.

We are pleased to suggest these other plants, which go well with Salvia tubiflora:

#701
Salvia cuspidata ssp. gilliesii Salvia cuspidata ssp. gilliesii

(Chilean Mountain Sage) This spectacular shrub, which used to be known as S. gillesii, is delicate in appearance but strong growing and robust in the garden. A native of the Chilean Andes, it grows in the full sun on rocky slopes often shrouded in fog from the nearby Pacific Ocean. The rounded wooly soft grey toothed leaves are pleasantly scented, and drape on the plant in a way that reminds me of the limbs of conifers.

Salvia discolor 'Purple Bracts' Salvia discolor 'Purple Bracts'

(Purple Bract Peruvian Sage or Concolor Sage)This very distinctive variety of Concolor Sage is another outstanding plant from Salvia Guru Brent Barnes.  As with the wild species, the slightly smaller leaves are apple green and smooth on the top, and have silver hairs on the bottoms.  The biggest difference is in the flowers and the large bracts at the base of the dark-purple - almost black flowers.

Salvia flocculosa Salvia flocculosa

(Blue Ecuadorian Sage) A beautiful, densely branched shrub with silvery leaves, this rare species was once thought to be S. cruickshanksii. In the California nursery trade, it has been called "Salvia 'Equador'". This is the true species, a great garden plant for warm areas.

(Arrowleaf Sage) This unusual herbaceous perennial is found at high elevations (9,500ft.-10,000ft.) in the Cordillera de los Andes of Chile and Peru. It’s arrow-head shaped leaves (sagittata refers to this shape) are deeply textured, yellow-green and woolly on the undersides.

The blooms are a gorgeous, brilliant royal blue and rise 1’-2’ from the leafy stems starting in Summer and continuing through the Fall.
