Hi! I ordered outdoor orchids from you last year. Just wanted to say how great they are doing. Mounted the orchids on the trunk of my tree ferns and about half of the kikis are blooming. Evey-thing you sent is still alive. I have never been able to keep orchids alive indoors but they really like hanging outside on trees.

I love you guys--the S. macrophylla started blooming flowers a few days after it arrived and so are the canariensis and radula that I ordered earlier in the month. They are absolutely gorgeous and I have no doubt they will thrive once planted in the ground. Thank you thank you!

I also wrote a yelp review to help get your site out there :-)

Salvia involucrata 'Bethellii'
(Roseleaf Sage)  One of our very favorite plants. It starts flowering in August, and continues - more and more spectacular every day - until cut down to the ground by a hard frost. This Salvia requires a bit of high shade in the hottest climates, and appreciates a rich soil with regular watering.

Of the four varieties of Roseleaf Sage we grow, this is the largest.

Use this Salvia where you want a bold, strong statement.  We like to pair it with Salvia mexicana varieties for a contrast in color and leaf.

We are pleased to suggest these other plants, which go well with Salvia involucrata 'Bethellii':

Salvia karwinskii 'Red Form' Salvia karwinskii 'Red Form'

(Red Flowered Karwinski's Sage) From moist mountain areas in Mexico and Central America, this rugged, winter blooming shrub is found in oak or pine forests at 4,000ft.-8,000ft. It’s high altitude habitat must account for the fact that this winter bloomer withstands short term temperatures into the low 20’s and still produces a few flowers!

Salvia wagneriana 'White Bracts' Salvia wagneriana 'White Bracts'

(Pink & White Wagner's Sage) From the cloud forests of Southern Mexico and Central America comes this 100% dazzling winter blooming beauty. This one differs from the straight species in having white bracts instead of the usual pink. We have it in bloom from November through March - come snow, ice or temperatures as low as 20 degrees. How hardy is this plant, beloved and cultivated by the people in its native lands?

#726
Salvia x 'Marwin Gardens' Salvia x 'Marwin Gardens'

(Marwin Garden Sage) A pleasure to grow and most unusual, this hybrid Sage of unknown origin has proved reliable and more than garden worthy for us. Large soft pink flowers and green & white bracts top this compact and well branched four foot shrub.

Some of the most dramatic Salvias bloom in the Winter. Most of these are from Southern Mexico, and are very well adapted to grow in Zone 9 gardens.
