FBTS uses a formula based on the main -- or primary -- color of a plant's flowers to identify similar plants. The foundation of our analysis is the internationally standardized color system published by the U.K.'s Royal Horticultural Society.
Each RHS color has a common name and a code combining a number and a letter from A to D. Immediate family of a color share the same number, but not necessarily the same common name. For example RHS#44A is Vivid Red, whereas RHS#44B and #44C are both commonly called Vivid Reddish Orange and #44D is Strong Yellowish Pink. Moving up one closely related color set, you find Vivid Reddish Orange RHS#43A and #43B, Deep Yellowish Pink RHS #43C and Strong Yellowish Pink RHS #43D. Moving down one closely related family, you arrive at RHS#45A to C, all of which are called Vivid Red and then RHS #45D, which is Strong Red.
Extended family can be so confusing! Don't worry about keeping the RHS common names and codes straight. Just be aware that all the plants in this gallery are part of one big happy color family.
Plants arrived promptly when they were expected. They were large healthy plants. I was very happy with my order! Thanks.
My third shipment of flowers arrived today with temperatures reaching 100 this afternoon. Kermit said they would be safe to ship despite the weather and they arrived in perfect condition. Many were blooming or in bud and all were very healthy and full. When I receive flowers from Flowers by...
From one salvia lover to another.... I always am so amazed at the quality and condition of plants I order from you. In spite of the distance (CA-SC) the plants always are in wonderful condition. All 12 of the recent order were well rooted and ready for planting. Thank you for your quality...
Beautifully grown plants of unusual hard to get varieties. I've potted them on to keep them growing through the heat of the Austin summer; looking forward to placing them in the garden this fall.
The plants purchased from FBTS are first rate! They were healthy, and rearing to grow when I received them. Would definitely order again.
I'm very impressed with the quality of you're plants. The five or six I've ordered the past two years are thriving . I will continue to order from you as long as I have room in my garden. Just a great website to have discovered ! Thanks, Spencer
I received my first order (of salvias) three days ago - they came to North Texas via regular mail and look great. They are large, no leaf drop, and are already over the 'not so perky' phase that comes with being shipped; several have open blooms already. I appreciate the very reasonable prices...
