(Elk Crimson Spires Sage) Dark, dusky red stems and calyxes add to the drama of large scarlet flowers and lively green foliage in our FBTS hybrid, Salvia x 'Elk Crimson Spires'. One of its parent plants is the famous hummingbird magnet Salvia x 'Scarlet Spires'.

Elk Crimson Spires Sage attracts bees and hummingbirds, is drought resistant, handles heat, and looks dramatic in cut flower arrangements.

Yet children sometimes exceed the success of their parents, and that is the case with Elk Crimson example, its flowers are a purer red than those of Scarlet Spires, which leans toward orange. Also, Elk Crimson grows quicker, blooms earlier, produces more flowers over time, grows well in partial shade and tolerates substantial winter cold as a perennial.

Because of it's strong woody stems, Crimson Spires also stands up to wind better than Scarlet Spires. We think you'll love it, and we know your local hummingbirds will.
