FBTS uses a formula based on the main -- or primary -- color of a plant's flowers to identify similar plants. The foundation of our analysis is the internationally standardized color system published by the U.K.'s Royal Horticultural Society.
Each RHS color has a common name and a code combining a number and a letter from A to D. Immediate family of a color share the same number, but not necessarily the same common name. For example RHS#44A is Vivid Red, whereas RHS#44B and #44C are both commonly called Vivid Reddish Orange and #44D is Strong Yellowish Pink. Moving up one closely related color set, you find Vivid Reddish Orange RHS#43A and #43B, Deep Yellowish Pink RHS #43C and Strong Yellowish Pink RHS #43D. Moving down one closely related family, you arrive at RHS#45A to C, all of which are called Vivid Red and then RHS #45D, which is Strong Red.
Extended family can be so confusing! Don't worry about keeping the RHS common names and codes straight. Just be aware that all the plants in this gallery are part of one big happy color family.
Terrific plants! Nice size to the plants (much larger than competitors), with great root systems (have spent quite a bit of time in the pots instead of recent transplants), and well-packed. Will definitely be a repeat customer.
FBTS is a valuable gem I discovered and could not be more pleased. My first delivery was not in good shape at all due to being out of town when delivered and they were packaged too long. However, the owner made the effort to satisfy his customer by replacing the plants and sending me a bonus...
I received my first order of salvias from FBTS this year. The quality of their plants far exceeds that of any other mail order source that I have used......and believe me, I do a ton of plants by mail order!!!!Packing was excellent and not as annoying as some places that use multiple rubber bands...
the salvias I ordered were the most robust and healthy looking plants I have ever seen. I especially liked the hardening off and planting guidelines and tips. unfortunately work called me away for a week and the plants weathered a week of brutal Georgia heat, humidity and drought unattended. when...
I've been gardening for hummingbirds for the past 30+ years. Since my needs are so specific (and I live in an area where most of the best hummer attractants do not), I've used mail order suppliers almost exclusively. My choices have worked over the years - especially in 2005 when we were visited...
Pure Joy!!! I've enjoyed watching this burgundy salvia develop across the summer-- continuously getting taller and bushier. Now that August has arrived, there are dozens of blooms springing forth from the plant, which has spread nearly 4 feet and is 3 feet tall. Day by day the exact colors are...
All arrived heathy and when promised. I'm now awaiting their growth and bloom.
I am a recent convert to being a salvia lover and I must say I LOVE browsing through the FBTS website which is wonderfully organized. You make it so easy to order, too. My first order arrived on time just a few weeks ago and I was really impressed with the packaging and the quality and size of...
We were very happy with the plants we ordered. We followed yoyr instructions and the plants are doing well
As usual I am very pleased with the recent purchase of Salvia from you. Also, thank you
for gifting me the plants that were shipped in error. You folks are extremely fair and
this is greatly appreciated. My only issue is the distance and freight costs involved in
purchasing from you. However,...
